Welcome to TOR Rugby Minis & Juniors
Due to the need to follow Covid restrictions we need to stagger the training times as follows:
The RFU have now moved forwards with their plans to enable us to commence training with certain conditions. We are able to work within those guidelines and are looking at returning to Tor on Sunday 13th September.
We have to restrict the use of the clubhouse, so all children must attend ready to train, they will need to bring their own water bottles and towels. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions we are unable to use the changing rooms or showers. the clubhouse will though be open to provide access to toilets. We are hoping to be able to provide teas/coffees from our outside bar, but will not initially be able to provide food.
We are not yet able to play competetive matches and it may be some time before the RFU guidelines permit us to return to playing fixtures. All rugby activities are restricted such that contact is reduced, this will impact on our ability to play rugby as we would like, but we will adapt and ensure that the kids have fun!
Furhter details regarding the new season, and the Covid-19 risk assessment can be found at the following links:
We really hope that you are all looking forward to returning this season, if you have any questions or concerns, please email us at email@example.com
The RFU has confirmed that the game is now at Phase D of the Return to Rugby Roadmap
The return will initially be through adapted contact rugby training focused on Ready4Rugby, a non-contact game, enabling two teams of up to 10 players to engage in match activity.
- Return to Rugby Roadmap - Phase D
- Ready4Rugby instructional video
- Ready4Rugby guide
- Other Touch Rugby activity (including O2 Touch centres) is able to recommence. Touch Rugby is played by two teams of 6 players with a match official with a duration of 2 x 20- minutes halves. The aim is to ground the ball on or over the opposition try line. Each team gets 6 touches to attempt to score. More information can be found here.
Steve Grainger, RFU Rugby Development Director, said: “It’s great that we’ve been able to secure the green light to recommence some rugby activity. Ready4Rugby provides a great opportunity for our community clubs to recommence training with larger group sizes and begin to reintroduce matches. We thank DCMS, PHE and Sport England for their support over the last few months to help get us to this position.”
Adapted community competition plans for adult and age grade rugby in the 2020/21 season have been published. There are a range of competition models that can be applied at different season start dates within the three windows, as and when it is deemed safe to return to play, i.e. when we reach Stage F on the Return to Community Rugby Roadmap.

At Tor Youth Rugby we welcome young people of all rugby abilities and experience. We run teams through a large range of age groups from under 6 right up to under 13s. We are also growing our Girls team in collaboration with other clubs in the Mendips. We will improve skills and inspire enthusiasm for the game with experienced coaches and assistance from the Tor First Team players. The primary focus is absolutely on fun - the aim is to introduce the palyers to a game that they will develop and improve and grow to love.
We are an RFU Accredited Club which means that all of our coaches are RFU trained and qualified and that we have passed the necessary accreditation from the RFU.
We train once a week and be challenged on the field in matches against other Somerset teams on weekends. Tor Youth Rugby is a great opportunity to make new friends on the pitch and grow into the Tor Rugby players of the future.
Training and Home games take place at 09:30am on Sundays at Tor RFC ground at Lowerside lane, Glastonbury BA6 9GY
